Seo Se-won's Sister Opposes Cremation, Family Discusses Funeral Arrangements with Seo Dong-ju
The funeral arrangements for the late comedian-turned-entrepreneur Seo Se-won (67), who passed away in Cambodia, have yet to be finalized.
According to News1 on April 23, Park Hyun-ok, Vice President of the Asian Korean Federation residing in Cambodia, said in relation to Seo Se-won's funeral arrangements, "It has not been organized yet."
Vice President Park added, "Yesterday afternoon, Seo Se-won's niece and other family members arrived in Cambodia, followed by his daughter (Seo Dong-ju) in the evening. They will gather at the location where the body is laid and discuss the funeral arrangements this morning."
Park also mentioned, "As far as I know, Seo Se-won's sister opposes cremation. To move the body, it would take at least a week to ten days, and the cost is not insignificant. I think we need to discuss the procedures with the family first."
Seo Se-won passed away from shock while receiving an IV at a Korean hospital in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on the morning of the 20th. It was reported that he had been suffering from diabetes. Currently, a temporary memorial altar for Seo Se-won has been set up at a temple near Phnom Penh, and the body is being kept in cold storage.
Seo Se-won debuted in 1979 through the TBC Radio gag contest. He gained popularity by hosting shows like the KBS 2TV 'Seo Se-won Show' in the 1990s. In 1981, he married broadcaster Seo Jeong-hee and had a daughter and a son. However, they divorced in 2015 due to assault allegations. After the divorce, Seo married a musician known as Kim in 2016 and moved to Cambodia.
