BLACKPINK's Jennie is making waves as a global superstar, conquering the world as both a singer and an actress. Alongside her recent large-scale world tour and headlining performance at the United States' largest music festival, she has also made her debut as an actress, earning an invitation to Cannes.

Jennie's group BLACKPINK embarked on their world tour, "Born PINK," in October last year at Seoul's KSPO Dome, drawing approximately 1.5 million fans and setting a new record for K-pop girl groups. Initially, the North American leg of the tour was scheduled to end with 14 performances in seven cities, but due to popular demand, the group added four stadium concerts. YG Entertainment described this as an indicator of BLACKPINK's strong position in the American music market, highlighting their broad appeal and impressive ticket sales.

On April 16th (KST), BLACKPINK performed as the first K-pop and Asian artists to headline the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2023 (Coachella), captivating the audience of 125,000. During the 90-minute set, the group performed a total of 18 songs, with Jennie also unveiling her unreleased solo track "You & Me" and charming the Coachella crowd. Her call for the audience to "scream" became a viral moment on short-form content platforms like TikTok.

International media outlets praised BLACKPINK's performance, with CNN mentioning the group alongside past Coachella performers like Madonna and Beyoncé. The Guardian gave the performance a 4 out of 5 stars, while Billboard praised Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa for showcasing their individual talents during the "historic and monumental" show.

Jennie expressed her gratitude on social media after the first week of Coachella performances, stating that words could not describe how special the experience was. BLACKPINK is scheduled to headline Coachella again on the 23rd and will also become the first K-pop artists to perform at the Hyde Park British Summer Time Festival in London this July.

Furthermore, Jennie has secured a role in her first acting project, "The Idol," which is set to premiere in North America in June. The HBO series, produced by renowned pop artist The Weeknd, follows the lives and relationships of rising pop idols in the music industry. The cast includes global top artists like The Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp, and Troye Sivan.

Upon being cast in July last year, Jennie expressed her excitement, saying she found the script captivating and looked forward to working hard in her first acting role. The recently released trailer has raised anticipation for her debut, showcasing her unique hip and relaxed vibe.

"The Idol" has been invited to the non-competitive section of the 76th Cannes International Film Festival, bringing Jennie one step closer to making her Cannes debut. YG Entertainment confirmed receiving the invitation but stated that her attendance is still undecided.
