Kim Hyun-jae Files 500 Million Won Lawsuit Against Accuser, Claims Unfair Bullying Allegations
Group Black6ix member Kim Hyun-jae has filed a 500 million won (USD$377,656) lawsuit against his accuser for damages, claiming that he has been unfairly accused of school bullying.
On April 20, Kim Hyun-jae's legal representative, The Firm G, revealed that Kim Hyeon-jae had filed a 500 million won lawsuit for damages against the person who posted the bullying allegations and their mother.
Kim Hyun-jae's legal representative stated, "The content of the lawsuit is that Kim Hyun-jae's elementary and middle school classmate, along with their mother, posted false bullying MeToo articles several times, resulting in Kim Hyun-jae being criticized as a perpetrator of school bullying and leaving the show 'Peak Time,' and claiming damages for that."
They added, "Kim Hyun-jae is currently suffering from severe depression and social anxiety disorder due to the despair of having to give up his dream as a singer, which he has been preparing for and achieving for 10 years."
Previously on the 6th of last month, a person claiming to be Kim Hyun-jae's elementary and middle school classmate wrote a post raising school bullying allegations, causing controversy.
According to the accuser's post, they were bullied by Kim Hyun-jae. The accuser claimed, "When I was young, my family situation was not very good, so when I went to school without properly washing, Kim Hun-jae would say 'Oh, it smells like XX,' and hurt my self-esteem. I even injured my finger while avoiding him, but he did not apologize properly and I continued to suffer from harassment and gaslighting."
In response, JTBC's "Peak Time" started investigating the facts, becoming embroiled in controversy less than a month after its first broadcast. Just three days into the controversy, the production team said, "Both sides' claims are conflicting, and it is difficult for the production team to draw a clear conclusion at this point with just the memories and claims of both sides," and decided to remove Kim Hyun-jae from the show as the issue could not be resolved in a short period of time.
Kim Hyun-jae claimed he was unfairly accused of school bullying and left the show. Kim Hyun-jae said through SNS, "I tried to talk directly with the writer, but our memories were very different, and I judged that it would be difficult to resolve the situation through conversation any further," emphasizing his innocence and promising to prove it.
As Kim Hyun-jae files a large lawsuit against his accuser just a month after the bullying allegations, claiming his innocence, attention is focused on whether he can escape the bullying controversy.
