KBS Denies Knowledge of Drug Allegations Surrounding The Rose's Kim Woo-sung on 'The Seasons - Jay Park's Drive'
Controversy has arisen following the appearance of The Rose's Kim Woosung, who faced drug abuse allegations in the past, on the KBS2 program "The Seasons - Jay Park's Drive."
On April 16th, the band The Rose appeared on the KBS2 show "The Seasons - Jay Park's Drive." Following the broadcast, criticism arose regarding Kim Woosung's previous drug-related criminal history and his appearance on the public broadcast station KBS.
A KBS representative told OSEN, "We know that Kim Woosung received a suspended indictment after being investigated for drug-related charges in 2016. However, the production team was not aware of this fact when casting him. The KBS review office also did not discuss any appearance regulations for the guest."
Responding to suspicions that Kim Woosung was invited to the show due to his friendship with Jay Park, the KBS representative stated, "This is not true." They added, "The production team conducted the casting based on their criteria, and they claim they did not know about the drug allegations from seven years ago."
Regarding the broadcast featuring The Rose, KBS cautiously said, "As Kim Woosung did not receive any legal punishment, if viewers petition or have other opinions, there might be a possibility for reconsideration. However, at this stage, we are not suspending the replay of the episode and will continue to monitor the situation."
Meanwhile, "The Seasons" is a program divided into four seasons throughout the year, with four different MCs showcasing their unique charms under their own names. Jay Park recently hosted the show, and Jannabi's Choi Junghoon has been selected as the second MC to lead the program.
