BTS Jin's 'The Astronaut' Breaks Record for Longest-charting Asian Solo Artist on Hungary's Top 40 Chart
BTS member Jin continues to shine on the global stage, breaking records as a solo artist on Hungary's Single Top 40 Chart. Jin's debut solo single, "The Astronaut," climbed to the 7th spot during the 14th week of 2023 (March 30 - April 6), marking 18 consecutive weeks and a total of 19 weeks on the chart - a new record for an Asian solo artist.
"The Astronaut" demonstrates Jin's unwavering popularity as a solo artist, constantly breaking and setting new records for both the longest-charting and highest-ranking Asian solo artist. Upon its release, the single shot to the number one spot on the Hungarian chart and held the position for four consecutive weeks, setting the record for the longest-reigning number one by an Asian solo artist.
Jin, a member of BTS, also holds the overall record for the longest-reigning number one in Asia. This accomplishment solidifies Jin's reputation as a top-ranking artist, both as a group member and a soloist, in the Asian market.
Starting from the 49th week of 2022, "The Astronaut" ranked for 18 consecutive weeks, showcasing Jin's tremendous global popularity. In addition to "The Astronaut," Jin has charted a total of six songs on the Hungarian Single Top 40 Chart, including "Moon," "Yours," "Super Tuna," "Abyss," and "Tonight."
"The Astronaut" also enjoyed a 14-week run on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales Chart, setting a new record for the longest-charting K-pop solo artist in the past decade, further proving Jin's unparalleled presence as a global superstar.
Co-written and produced in collaboration with world-renowned band Coldplay, "The Astronaut" is an enchanting track featuring the gentle melodies of an acoustic guitar and synthesizer sounds. Jin's smooth yet powerful baritone voice, along with his distinct clear and rocking vocals, earned widespread praise for showcasing the diverse talents of vocalist Jin.
