Former Idol Reveals The Horrifying Method Behind Sasaengs Finding Idols' Personal Contact Number
In recent days, several celebrities have been attacked by sasaengs from GOT7's Youngjae to NCT's Chenle.
The issue, sadly, has lasted much longer. The former idol Soobin, who is a target until today of stalkers, has taken everything on YouTube to demonstrate how obsessed sasaengs obtain personal information of their favorites.
Soobin was born in California and managed to debut with the girl group 'Blady' in 2013 under the stage name Tina. Even though she no longer belongs to the K-Pop community, she still encounters the problem that must be tackled by any idol: 'Sasaengs.'
Soobin reported that her social networking sites and email accounts were twice compromised by malicious followers in January this year alone. It isn't the first instance she was hacked.
In the past, Soobin and her friends had their contact information from KakaoTalk leaked in public. Sadly, the same fate has happened to many idols. Often, celebrities are flooded with calls and stalkers' messages throughout live broadcasts.
All these incidents led Soobin to think about something which everyone would like to know — how do Sasaengs find their idol's contact details?

Soobin told the audience that several idols frequently change their contact information to stop sasaeng phone calls and text messages. Nevertheless, since telephone numbers must be registered with a legal name in Korea, it is often convenient for persistent stalkers to locate them.
Soobin says that idols can only deter this if their families or friends are asked to sign up their telephone numbers. Soobin addressed KakaoTalk, South Korea's most widely known messaging service. Most Koreans have their KakaoTalk numbers linked, so sasaengs can quickly locate idols' messenger IDs if their phone details are already there.
In the past, even celebrities' privacy is breached without linking their numbers on KakaoTalk, because several young stars with no background in stalkers can quickly identify their KakaoTalk IDs. Soobin said the level of protection in the application is relatively low, enabling fans to keep entering ID predictions (like the name of celebrities and birthday) until they locate the profile they seek.
