The South Korean entertainment industry is once again facing a school violence scandal, this time involving a 30-year-old musical actor.

According to legal sources on April 11, Seoul Central District Court Judge Park Min sentenced A to one year in prison and two years of probation on charges of inflicting special injury on the victim B. The incident occurred at a bar in Gangnam, Seoul, on September 25, 2022. The victim, a high school classmate of A, accused A of school violence during their school years. A responded by slapping B's face with an open palm and striking the victim with a soju bottle.

The court stated, "The victim suffered a significant scar on their face, and we anticipate lasting impairment or disability. The defendant has a criminal history of violence." However, they also considered A's admission of guilt and attitude of remorse, as well as the fact that the victim did not want criminal punishment for A.

School violence scandals continue to plague the entertainment industry, affecting singers, actors, and directors alike. Recently, trot singer Hwang Young-woong stepped down from the MBN show "Burning Trotman" after being accused of school violence. His agency issued an apology, stating, "Hwang Young-woong deeply regrets his ignorance and sincerely apologizes to those who have been hurt by his past actions."

Actress Shim Eun-woo faced backlash for indirectly denying her involvement in school violence through a social media post. Some netizens reacted negatively, accusing her of "cosplaying as a victim" and questioning her sincerity.

Director Ahn Gil-ho, known for Netflix's "The Glory," was also accused of school violence despite directing a work on the subject. He apologized, admitting that he caused irreversible harm to others due to an emotional outburst in the past.
