Unstoppable Trio: Song Joong-ki, Lee Bo-young, and Cho Seung-woo Celebrate 3 Consecutive Hits
JTBC has scored another success, with its weekend dramas hitting it big for the third time in a row, starring top actors such as Song Joong-ki, Lee Bo-young, and Cho Seung-woo.
The Cho Seung-woo-led JTBC weekend drama "Divorce Attorney Shin" ended its popular run on April 9th after 12 episodes. Starting with an impressive 7.272% rating on its premiere on March 4th, the drama captured viewers' attention right away. However, the ratings didn't continue to skyrocket throughout the series, dipping to 5.429% just one day before the finale. Yet, the final episode experienced a ratings surge, reaching nearly 10% and marking the drama's highest viewership.
"Divorce Attorney Shin" tells the story of divorce attorney Shin Seong-han (played by Cho Seung-woo) and explores the lives of people in the midst of tumultuous divorces. Despite its sensitive subject matter, the drama managed to convey warmth and was well-received by viewers. The drama's subtle charm, combined with occasional comedic moments and Cho Seung-woo's stellar performance as the humane, divorce attorney, captivated audiences.
Following the success of "Divorce Attorney Shin," JTBC has achieved three consecutive hits. "The Youngest Son of a Chaebol Family", starring Song Joong-ki, recorded the highest rating for a 2022 miniseries at 26.948%, while its successor "Agency", starring Lee Bo-young, concluded with a final rating of 16.044%. Although "Divorce Attorney Shin" didn't match the ratings of its predecessors, it still managed to uphold JTBC's weekend drama reputation with near double-digit ratings.
Next up, Uhm Jung-hwa will take the baton in the drama "Doctor Cha," which premieres on April 15. The drama portrays the life of a 20-year housewife turned first-year resident, Cha Jeong-suk (played by Uhm Jung-hwa). All eyes are on whether "Doctor Cha" can continue JTBC's weekend drama success streak.
