Comedian Ahn Young-mi Prepares for Childbirth, Steps Down from Radio Shows
South Korean comedian Ahn Young-mi is gearing up for the birth of her first child.
According to a News1 report on the 3rd, An Young-mi will leave MBC FM4U's 'Two O'Clock Date with Muzie and Ahn Young-mi' after the broadcast on the 14th.
As a result, Ahn Young-mi will wrap up her radio show after three years and six months since being selected as a DJ with Muzie in September 2019.
Furthermore, Ahn Young-mi will take a temporary break after recording MBC's 'Radio Star' on the 19th. She joined 'Radio Star' as the first female MC in June 2019, working alongside Kim Gook-jin, Kim Gura, and Yoo Se-yoon. During a press conference held in January this year, she expressed her desire to continue with the show, regardless of reaching 1,000 or 2,000 episodes, if given parental leave.
Ahn Young-mi made headlines after announcing her pregnancy in early January, three years after marrying a non-celebrity man in 2020. Her husband currently works in the United States, and the couple received many congratulations for their first pregnancy after a long-distance marriage. Although her due date is in July, Ahn has decided to step down from MBC radio shows, including 'Radio Star,' to focus on prenatal care for her second child.
Ahn Young-mi debuted as a 19th generation KBS comedian in 2004 and gained popularity through KBS 2TV's 'Gag Concert' in various segments. She has since appeared in tvN's 'Comedy Big League' and 'SNL Korea,' as well as being a member of the girl group Celeb Five with Song Eun-yi, Shin Bong-sun, and Kim Shin-young.
