BTS's Jimin and NewJeans Top Circle Chart in Mid-March, EXO's Kai Sees Surge in Social Media
BTS's Jimin and NewJeans have been confirmed as the most popular musicians in mid-March 2023.
On March 30th, the Korea Music Content Association revealed the results of the Circle Chart for the 12th week of 2023 (March 19-25) through their official channel.
According to the released data, BTS's Jimin and global long-run hitmakers NewJeans swept the top spots in the 12th week of the Circle Chart. Jimin took home four crowns, including Album, Global K-pop, Download, and Retail Album, with his first official solo album "FACE," pre-release track "Set Me Free Pt.2," and title track "Like Crazy."
Jimin, known as the symbol of BTS's performance, garnered global attention with his powerful energy and smooth atmosphere in his first solo album, which excluded the group's tracks.
NewJeans claimed the top spot in Digital (for seven consecutive weeks) and Streaming (for 13 consecutive weeks) with the pre-release track "Ditto" from their first single "OMG." The song's inherent charm, including its easy-to-listen-to melodic sound and lyrics that resonate with the MZ generation, has led to ongoing challenges and memes across various platforms since its pre-release last year.
While BLACKPINK continued to dominate the Social Chart 2.0 for the 31st consecutive week with keywords like "showcasing presence," "creating a sensation," and "attracting attention," EXO's Kai stood out with his rapid social media growth following his solo comeback.
In addition, the 12th week's Global K-pop Chart Top 200 new songs included Jimin's "Like Crazy" (11th place) and NMIXX's "Love Me Like This" (21st place).
The Circle Chart, which has been operating since 2010, is a globally recognized K-pop chart that officially combines digital technology and global data based on the Gaon Chart.
