Veteran actor Lee Min-woo reveals why he hasn't married on Channel A's 'Mom's Travel, Go Doo-shim Likes It'
On a recent episode of Channel A's "Mom's Travel, Go Doo-shim Likes It," 42-year veteran actor Lee Min-woo opened up about the reasons behind his decision to remain unmarried.
During the episode, Lee Min-woo and Go Doo-shim took a trip to Gyodong Island in Incheon's Ganghwa County. While traveling in the car, Go Doo-shim asked Lee Min-woo, "Why haven't you gotten married? Did you never think about it?"
Lee Min-woo responded with a laugh, saying, "Somehow, I've ended up here."
When asked if he had never met the right person, Lee strongly denied it. In response to the question, "Do you dislike women?" he said, "No, I like them. What would a man do if he didn't like women?"
Lee Min-woo further explained, "It just happened that when someone was there, they would disappear as time went by. I didn't mean to not get married, nor did I mean to get married. Maybe it's because I was neither here nor there. People who don't think about it at all tend to move on more quickly."
Go Doo-shim speculated, "When a relationship with a woman begins, you have to make an effort to maintain it. Maybe because you didn't make such efforts and couldn't find time due to your busy shooting schedule, your relationships ended before you even realized they had begun."
Lee Min-woo, who took a break from acting for about five years, said, "At that time, I felt strongly that I had no foundation or basics, both as an actor and as a person. I was in the adult world, ignoring the basics."
As his concerns grew after his 30s, he realized he couldn't continue down that path in his 40s. "My friends and those who cared for me scolded me a lot, saying I was going crazy and should see a psychiatrist. But I was sure it wasn't a matter of going to a psychiatric hospital."
Lee Min-woo added, "I felt like I couldn't call myself an actor anywhere. I couldn't work."
