BLACKPINK Says They Put In A Lot Of Work To Look Like Superwomen, After Being Named ‘TIME’ Entertainer Of 2022
Prestigious and Renowned American magazine Time has named the mega K-pop group BLACKPINK as "Entertainer of the Year" recently.
The quartet, comprising members Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé, gave an interview to talk about the year, which has been big for them. In 2022 they made their debut at an American Music Awards by performing at the MTV Video Music Awards.
This year the icons also released their second album "Born Pink", after which they embarked on a world tour, described as the biggest of its kind among K-pop girls' groups. They have currently completed the US leg of the tour. The world tour will only end sometime next year after hosting shows in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
If that was not all, BLACKPINK has also reached new heights on the Billboard charts. The American music and entertainment magazine has ranked "Born Pink" as the Best K-pop album of 2022 in its list of the 50 Best Albums of 2022. Moreover, it is the only K-pop album to be included on this list, featuring at #42.
According to staff writer Starr Bowenback of Billboard, "Born Pink" soars not just because of its impeccable stability between Korean and English, or because of the basic infectiousness, rather the album exhibits the four members combining the thrill of the previous BLACKPINK with a grown-up, extra mature model of the band, further emboldened by their fans that helps the group endlessly.
The megastars, however, insist that at the end of the day, they are very normal girls. Jennie said that they put in a lot of work so that they can look like superwomen. According to Rosé, one of the reasons the group resonates with fans all over the world is because of their natural multiculturalism, as the members have grown up in different parts of the world including South Korea, New Zealand, Thailand, and Australia. It makes them all from different cultures.
Lisa added that the highlight of the year was being able to come back with the team to tour and meet BLINKs globally. Jennie shared that her main focus was to enjoy every day and not to look ahead, because once they start planning a year on year ahead or two years ahead, then it becomes too overwhelming.
Last week, the four also released the first episode of "Born Pink Memories", a new online series that gives a behind-the-scenes look to fans during the concept photo shoot for the "Pink Venom" music video. The series also showcases other fun facts from the set while shooting.
