K-Pop Band GOT7's Just-Released, Self Titled Mini-Album Dominates iTunes Charts In 90 Countries
K-pop band GOT7 made a comeback on May 23 KST with "GOT7", their long-awaited, self-titled EP. Right after the global release, the mini-album debuted at the top of the European iTunes album and worldwide charts.
In addition, as of May 24 KST, the EP has reached the No.1 spot on iTunes album charts in 90 countries, which include Japan, Vietnam, Turkey, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, New Zealand, Malaysia, Laos, Italy, Indonesia, Hong Kong, France, Chile, Brazil, and Australia among others.
Furthermore, "NANANA," the title track of the album has landed at the top of iTunes song charts in 70 countries, which include United Arab Emirates, Spain, Singapore, Peru, Mexico, India, Fiji, and Egypt, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia, and Argentina. The title song has now broken the record of "Encore," the GOT7 song with the most No.1's on iTunes song charts previously.
Meanwhile, in an interview featured in W Korea magazine's June issue, the seven members of GOT7, including Bambam, Yugyeom, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Jay B, and Youngjae, have deeply reflected on what the first comeback as a team means to them, after having parted ways with their debut agency JYP Entertainment.
According to Youngjae, his wish was for each GOT7 member to work hard respectively and then for all of them to get together again at the right time. He shared that it did not matter to him if people initially thought the group had disbanded.
Jay B shared that he told himself repeatedly to not let go of the thread that bound all the members together. The singer said that he gained so much through the band that if we just went ahead and concentrated on his solo promotions then the seven years GOT7 had spent together as a group would become meaningless and that he can never forget his starting point.
Jinyoung said he suffered from anxiety and loneliness when all the members went their separate ways last year. Jackson disclosed that last year he felt like he was lost.
Mark revealed that with this comeback, he wanted to show everyone what a really great time the group had while working on the album.
BamBam mentioned that he always introduces himself as BamBam of GOT7 and it does not matter if the band has three foreign members.
Yugyeom shared that the members all work together much more naturally because the greediness is gone ass all of them are doing more of their solo activities in their respective places.
