BLACKPINK: 5 Times The Girls' Group Showed Their Queen Of K-Pop Status
BLACKPINK is undoubtedly the biggest K-pop girl group in the world. The four-member band from South Korea has numerous achievements under its belt. Whether it is breaking records or starting new trends, the megastars always prove why they are the Queens of K-pop.
1) First RIAA-Credited K-Pop Girl Band
BLACKPINK made history after it became the first K-pop girl group that got recognized by the Recording Industry Association of America. The group's hit "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" got certified by the RIAA.
2) Massive sales of albums and merchandise
The chart-busting k-pop idols have sold millions of their albums within mere seconds. Most of their albums have received Korea Music Copyright Association certificates. In addition, "The Album", their studio album surpassed 1 million stock pre-orders, giving them yet another first in their achievements.
Not only albums, but BLACKPINK merch also sells out fast. In fact, the products that the girls are seen wearing or using also vanishes fast from the market, such is their popularity.
3) Youtube Records
The four-member BLACKPINK is the first-ever K-pop band to get 1 billion YouTube views on their music video for "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du". The quartet also holds the record of being the artist with the most YouTube subscribers on YouTube, defeating even Justin Bieber.
At all points of their successful journey, the girls always thank their fandom BLINKS for making all this possible and for their YouTube success.
4) Billboard Feat and Mentions
The K-pop queens became the first female group to top the Billboard Artist 100 chart in the US.
In fact, soon after debuting, the band marked their success by getting the 92nd position on the Canadian Hot 100 chart with their song "Playing With Fire". This track made the four-girl group the first K-pop band to ever chart on the Canadian Hot 100.
Furthermore, "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" opened at No. 52, making it the highest-charting hit by a K-pop girl band. BLACKPINK also topped the Emerging Artists chart and was the first K-pop girl band to earn the title. Their last album, "The Album", was a major hit, busting charts across the globe.
5) Starting Fashion Trends
Each of the members, namely Lisa, Jennie, Rosé, and Jisoo
are dubbed trend-setters. They continuously inspire BLIINKS with their style and statement. Jennie alone is responsible for beginning multiple fashion trends in Korea.
From the latest in fashion to modernized hanboks, they are style icons who rule the world of fashion. No wonder each of the mega-idols is a global brand ambassador of luxurious fashion houses and couture brands respectively.
