BTS Wins 'Best Music Video' And 'Best Fan Army' Trophies At 2022 iHeartRadio Music Awards
K-pop megastars BTS have won two awards at the 2022 iHeartRadio Music Awards, which took place on March 22 (local time) in California.
The event, which was hosted at the Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles, was also broadcasted live on Fox and the official Facebook and YouTube account of the award show.
BTS was nominated in a total of three categories this year, including Best Fan Army, Best Music Video, and Best Duo/Group of the Year, and took home the award for the first two nominations.
Incidentally, the band won in the same two categories when they were nominated at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in 2021. It is the fifth consecutive year that the South-Korean group earned nominations at this award show. They have now won the Best Fan Army award for the fifth year in a row, and the Best Music Video award for three years consecutively.
BTS won the Best Music Video award for their chartbuster "Butter", which was nominated alongside "MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)" by LIL Nas X, "Build a B*tch" by Bella Poarch, "drivers license" by Olivia Rodrigo, "Peaches" by Justin Bieber featuring Giveon and Daniel Caesar, and "Bad Habits" by Ed Sheeran.
For the category of Best Fan Army, BTS faced competition from international artists such as Selena Gomez, Megan Thee Stallion, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Harry Styles among others.
BTS thanked the ARMY for the win in their VCR message. They thanked the fans for their love and support and of which the band was able to receive this award. The Bangtan Boys called their fans amazing and the best and thanked them for loving BTS's music.
Jungkook thanked iHeartRadio Music Awards and ARMY for the Best Fan Army and Best Music Video awards. The group's leader RM added that the ARMY's love and support brought them these awards and it means everything to BTS that they have the ARMY. Suga thanked everyone for loving "Butter" and their music and J-Hope shared that they had always been together and the ARMY is always amazing. Jin rounded it off by calling the ARMY the best.
Meanwhile, "Butter", which won in the Best Music Video category at the iHeartRadio Music Awards continues its dominating streak on Billboard's Hot Trending Songs Chart. It has maintained its No. 1 position for the week ending on March 26 after earning 4.7 million mentions on Twitter in the tracking period of March 11-17.
