K-Pop Artist Dawon Takes Indefinite Hiatus From WJSN Cosmic Girls Due To Anxiety Disorder
Dawon, who is a member of the South Korean-Chinese band Cosmic Girls, will be taking an extended break because of anxiety disorder.
Cosmic Girls' management company Starship Entertainment recently released an official statement saying that Dawon had been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, and she was going through treatment. The agency consulted with the singer, and she is presently taking measures to recover.
The entertainment company also mentioned that they decided to suspend her activities after consulting with the singer, based on medical professionals' opinions.
In the future, Dawon will not participate with the Cosmic Girls and will focus on her mental health.
Incidentally, Dawon had taken a hiatus in the past for the same reason of anxiety disorder during December 2019. At that time, Starship Entertainment had said that the singer was taking a rest from the girl group's promotions after getting diagnosed with anxiety disorder. They took the decision of hiatus after the artist made a complaint of suffering symptoms of mental anxiety.
On visiting the hospital for the correct diagnosis, she went through an exam and treatment. The examination's result proclaimed the cause to be anxiety disorder and Dawon's promotions with Cosmic Girls was temporarily halted. The girl's band continued its promotions as a nine-member band at that point.
Incidentally, the news of Dawon's indefinite hiatus came just a day after the third generation girls' announced that they will join the upcoming season of "Queendom 2", Mnet's performance-based variety show. Fans are now worried about the group's success on the Mnet survival show as Dawon is the main vocalist and will be on the break when it begins to film its episodes.
Dawpn made her debut as a WJSN member on December 21, 2015 when she took part in a cover of "All I Want for Christmas Is You", Mariah Carey's classic superhit. Dawon had participated in the cover along with Dayoung, Mei Qi, Cheng Xiao, Eunseo, EXY, Bona, and SeolA.
The singer was later disclosed to be a member of Cosmic Girls' Natural Unit with Mei Qi and Luda on December 31, 2015, before making a debut with the group as the main vocalist in February 2016 with the single "MoMoMo" and their mini-album "Would You Like?".
Before debuting with WJSN, Dawon had appeared on"K-Pop Star 2", the SBS reality show, but did not make it beyond the second round of auditions.
