K-Pop Girls' Group April Disbands
South-Korean girls' band April has officially announced their disbandment on January 28 KST, with a brief official statement by the group's management company DSP Media.
The talent agency stated that they would like to notify everyone of April's disbandment. They had come to the decision to disband the team after a lengthy discussion with each of the members of April members, so that the latter can pursue their individual paths from now on.
The company asked everyone for their abundant attention and support toward the six members who would now start on their own paths, and not as April members.
The agency also sincerely thanked the fans who cheered on the members of April for the past six years.
April had made their debut under DSP Media on August 24, 2015 with "Dreaming", their first mini album. The group comprised members Jinsol, Rachel, Yena, Naeun, Chaewon, and Chaekyung.
Meanwhile, Jinsol, Yena, Chaekyung, and Chaewon have addressed fans with handwritten letters, sharing their thoughts after the group's disbandment.
Jinsol revealed that she wanted to do all that was within her power to protect April's name, but ultimately took the step after deciding that it was inevitably time for the end.
Yena relayed that she did not feel comfortable greeting fans with such bad news. She took the opportunity to tell everyone that she wanted to remain an artist whom fans could be proud of but she was sorry that she can no longer fulfill that hope.
Chaekyung admitted that that going from Chaekyung of April to just Yoon Chaekyung, and facing the days ahead of her, is frightening and foreign. Still she asked fans to cheer on each of the April members as they start on new paths from now on.
Chaewon expressed a mixture of apology and gratitude toward fans in her lengthy letter, writing that she did not know what the right thing to say might be, and the only thing that came to her mind were the words "Thank you" and "I'm sorry".
She also shared that the amount of time she spent as an April member , together with fans, has always been the most precious moments of her life, and no matter how much time passes, this will never change.
The artist also added that she did not believe that this was the end.
