Rookie K-Pop Group Kep1er's Debut Album 'First Impact' At No.2 On 'Worldwide iTunes Album Chart'
K-pop girls' group Kep1er has proved to be a monster rookie band with "First Impact", their debut album entering the "Worldwide iTunes Album Chart".
Kep1er truly made an impactful debut with "First Impact" on January 3 at 6 PM KST. The highly anticipated debut album immediately entered numerous iTunes charts, ranking No. 2 on the "Worldwide iTunes Album Chart", ranking No. 5 on the "European iTunes Album Chart, as well as ranking among the Top 5 on the US iTunes "Album Chart".
Moreover, the mini album's title song "Wa Da Da" made its debut at No. 21 on the "Worldwide iTunes Song Chart", the side track "MVSK" ranked at No. 67, and "See The Light" entered at the No. 187 rank.
Meanwhile, Kep1er has announced the group's official fandom name and official colors. The band revealed that fans would be referred to as Kep1ian, which will be pronounced as Keplian.
The official colors have been unveiled to be lavender and white and lavender and yellow. Regarding the color choice, band member Yujin said that they were a bit cautious about pinning down Kep1er's identity yet but hoped that the group would become a bright band that gives strength to people.
According to Yujin, the band approached their debut with the thought of absolutely not disappointing the fan base who had been with them since 'Girls Planet 999".
Co-band member Hikaru said that what set them apart from the other fourth-generation K-pop idol groups is their performance and energy. She added that the group has the energy of people running to catch their dreams, which they will showcase through their performances.
The group also tweeted on their official Twitter handle, addressing everyone by saying let's make happy memories together with Kep1er. The nine-member girl group also held an online showcase on January 3 for the release of their debut album.
The band was formed via "Girls Planet 99", a survival audition program by South Korean pay television music channel Mnet. The group comprises members Kang Ye Seo, Seo Young Eun, Huening Bahiyyih, Ezaki Hikaru, Kim Da Yeon, Kim Chae Hyun, Shen Xiao Ting, Sakamoto Mashiro, and Choi Yu Jin.
Some of the group members have had previous K-pop showbiz experiences, as Yujin had debuted in CLC previously and Yeseo had made her debut in Busters. While Kim Chae Hyun was formerly an SM Entertainment trainee who has known aespa members, and the latter had sent her congratulatory messages for Kep1er's debut.
The K-pop group was initially supposed to debut in December, but it was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
