BTS Broke 13 Guinness World Records in 2021
Megastars BTS has broken 25 Guinness World Records titles in total spanning across music, cultural prizes, entertainment awards, and social media.
In 2021 alone they broke a stupendous 13 records. The seven-member band also earned a coveted spot in the Guinness World Records 2022 Hall of Fame.
Best-selling Album in South Korea
"Map of the Soul: 7", the seventh studio album by BTS sold a whopping 4,440,818 copies in South Korea as of March 2021. It was also the second time that the K-pop group broke this record, outdoing themselves. They first broke this record with their 2019 EP "Map of the Soul: Persona".
Most weeks on the US Hot 100 by a K-pop song
The Bangtan Boy's first English song "Dynamite" spent its 32nd week on the all-genre Hot 100 chart on Billboard. In 2021, the boys earned the title for most weeks on the US Hot 100 by a K-pop track.
Most weeks at the Number 1 rank on Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart
As of 10 April 2021, "Dynamite" spent 18 non-consecutive weeks at the number one spot on Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart, snatching the crown from Luis Fonsi's 17-week-No-1 summer hit "Despacito".
Spotify's most-streamed act (group)
The septet also achieved the record for most streamed act on Spotify (group) in April 2021. At the time of the announcement, the super K-pop group's music had been streamed on Spotify 16.3 billion times.
The overall most popular track, "Dynamite", has been played an astounding amount of 1,888,259,884 times at the time of writing. The Bangtan Boys are ranked in the top three of Spotify's world most streamed artists of 2021.
Most Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards won by a music group
BTS broke the record for most Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards won by a music group in March 2021. During the event, BTS had a total number of five wins, sharing the record with US's Fifth Harmony.
Special Mention for "Butter"
BTS's super hot song "Butter" singlehandedly broke five Guinness World Records, including YouTube's most viewed music video in 24 hours, YouTube's most viewed music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group, YouTube's most viewers for the premiere of a video, YouTube's most viewers for the premiere of a music video, and Spotify's most-streamed track in the first 24 hours.
Most Instagram followers for a music group
On 22 April 2021, with 40,220,226 followers, BTS became the most followed group on Instagram.
As recently as December 2021, after the band members created their personal Instagram accounts, BTS's V broke records for the fastest time to reach 1 million Instagram followers (in just 43 minutes) and also broke the record for the fastest time to reach 10 million Instagram followers (in under five hours).
At the Guinness World Records Headquarters, reportedly not one month this year went by without at least one mention of BTS.
