Rookie Group IVE Sets K-Pop Records Within One Week Of Debut
Rookie K-pop girl band IVE who made a debut on December 1 with their single album "ELEVEN" is already setting new records.
Hanteo Chart, which is the largest album aggregation site in South Korea, announced on December 10 that IVE had recorded the highest first-week sales for a girl bands' debut album.
The group, formed under Starship Entertainment, recorded a first-week sales figure of 152,229 album copies sold for "ELEVEN".
Additionally, IVE also have the highest sales for first-week among rookie groups that made their debut in 2021.
The girls showed off their monster rookie position with this album by taking entry within the Top 3 of Hanteo Chart's weekly physical album chart for December's first week.
At present, IVE is also getting a lot of attention in the K-Pop industry, both on the domestic front and globally, for their outstanding record despite having been active for only nine days officially as a group.
The album "ELEVEN" also ranked within the Top 10 on major music sites in the South Korean domestic market such as Bugs, Genie Music, and Melon. It also made an entry into the largest streaming platform in the world, with Spotify's Global 200 chart.
"ELEVEN" took the No. 5 spot on QQ Music, which is China's largest music platform, on their daily chart and global debut chart.
IVE also made its way into other international charts. They ranked at No. 12 Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart. The "ELEVEN" track also took the top spot on Billboard's Hot Trending Songs chart.
The debut album ranked No. 3 on the daily K-Pop chart and at No. 7 on Japan's Line Music's overall daily chart in Japan.
IVE appeared on "Show! Music Core", which is MBC's music program, on December 8. It was the girls' debut performance with "ELEVEN."
On the same show, IVE took home their first-ever first-place trophy, which earned them the title of "Super speed No. 1," for winning the trophy just a week after their debut.
Looks like IVE is already on its way to becoming a fourth-generation K-pop group to reckon with. The six-member band comprises members Leeseo, Gaeul, Liz, Ahn Yujin, Jang Wonyoung, and Rei.
IVE members have also begun releasing new episodes of the "1, 2, 3 IVE" show on their YouTube channel from December 6 at 11 PM KST/9 AM ET, and will continue to do so every week on Mondays.
