Song Joong Offered To Star In A Webtoon-Based Drama, Bae Suzy Rumored To Be His Partner
Song Joong Ki may have just finished Vincenzo, but he may be returning very soon with another sleek drama. It was reported that he would be the male lead star in the drama titled Chaebol Family's Youngest Son.
As per Sports Donga, Song Joong Ki's agency, History D&C, confirmed that the 35-year-old actor received an offer for the mentioned drama, and he is currently reviewing it. The drama was lifted from a webtoon of the same title and told the story of a person framed for embezzlement and killed by a chaebol family.
A chaebol is a family that owns a big company in South Korea, and they usually belong to the upper class in society. The murdered person has been with this chaebol family for a decade and remained loyal to them throughout, but he was betrayed in the end.
After his death, he was reborn and lived to be the youngest son in the chaebol family that ruined his life. He planned his revenge by slowly making his way up and taking over the clan's business. Apparently, this is the lead character in Chaebol Family's Youngest Son, and it will be played by Song Joong Ki.
It was reported that filming for this drama will start in the second half of this year, and it is most likely to air via JTBC. The target premiere date for the project is within the first half of 2022.
There is a rumor that Bae Suzy will be Song Joong Ki's partner in the drama. It was speculated that she would be the female lead in the TV drama adaptation of the hit web novel.
While there is no official announcement or confirmation about this casting yet, many fans are wishing that the two will indeed work together. A lot of people are already excited about the possible team-up as they express their observation of great chemistry between Song Joong Ki and Bae Suzy.
Meanwhile, Chaebol Family's Youngest Son will be directed by Jeong Dae Yun PD, who has helmed other hit dramas, including I am Not a Robot, W, and She Was Pretty. The project was written by Kim Tae Hee, who was also behind The Great King, Sejong, and Designated Survivor: 60 Days.
