BTS Earns Gaon Music Chart’s Quadruple Million Certification For ‘Persona’ Album
BTS has a new achievement this week after clinching a quadruple million certification at the Gaon Music Chart. The boy band received the cumulative volume certification under the album category.
Soompi notes that the Korea Music Content Association introduced a new certification system for album sales, song downloads, and online music streaming.
The updated method took effect starting with the releases on or after Jan. 1, 2018, and today the said chart is officially declaring an album platinum if it was able to attain 250,000 sales.
For albums with a million copies sold or more, these are given a million certification5.
The Gaon Music Chart publishes song and album rankings in South Korea, based on their popularity. This is produced by the KMCA and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture.
On May 6, the Gaon Chart posted the latest results and it showed that BTS' album Map of the Soul: Persona sold four million copies thus it secured a quadruple million certification. The group is the only band to achieve this so far.
In any case, the superstar boy group just dropped a teaser poster for its upcoming 2021 BTS Festa event and this got the fans really excited. This is because it is a special time when the group interacts and bonds with the ARMYs around the world.
BTS debuted in 2013 and in June, the seven members will be celebrating their 8th anniversary as a team. To mark this day, they surprised the ARMYs with the announcement of an online Festa celebration.
Fans think this will be canceled this year due to the pandemic but it will happen after all. This is truly an intimate occasion between BTS and their supporters so it has always been such a highly-anticipated date.
Now, to kick off the countdown until the band's actual anniversary date, the animated BTS FESTA D-Day Calendar was posted on the group's social media.
Fans will see this filled with activities soon and each will be revealed every day leading to the D-day. Apparently, the calendar also signals the start of the countdown until June 13.
Meanwhile, the Festa Calendar is up for sale and those who will avail of it will be able to enjoy access to exclusive photos and videos of BTS. There will be 13 surprise gifts and it is part of the package.
This will be sold via Weverse Shop and available from May 6 to May 27 for $64. For Japanese fans, they can purchase them at Japan Universal Music Store and BTS Official Japan Store from May 6 to May 31.
