Will MAMAMOO Continue To Promote As A Group? Here's RBW Entertainment's Statement
MAMAMOO fans are now near to fulfill their wishes for the group! RBW Entertainment released an official statement on January 22 regarding renewing the MAMAMOO members' exclusive contracts with the agency.
MAMAMOO Breaking The 'Seven-Year Curse'
In June 2014, MAMAMOO made its debut with a single titled Mr. Ambiguous from their first extended play, Hello. With this, the members' exclusive contracts with RBW Entertainment are now nearing to expire.
However, it seems that the "seven-year curse" in K-pop will not affect the group as two members have already finalized their exclusive contract renewals.
A "seven-year curse" is defined as an unfortunate year when many K-pop groups either disband or lose a member or two. 2NE1, 4Minute, SISTAR, Miss A, Wonder Girls, and KARA were among the idol groups that could not overcome this.
The Future Of MAMAMOO
In an announcement of RBW today, they are currently in the process of seriously discussing the renewal of our exclusive contracts with the members, with their mutual trust in mind.
The label also expressed that there is still a lot of time left in the current contract period. Still, they hoped to provide the members with sufficient time to reflect on ponder deeply on this matter as they have put their trust in us for a long time, so we began the discussion early on.
"However, recently, there have been numerous rumors and inquiries about the issue, and so we have decided to release this statement," the agency added.
Moreover, the agency continued that Solar and Moon Byul have already completed their contract renewals based on their mutual trust and expectations. Also, the members Whee In and Hwa Sa have exchanged positive opinions on the matter.
"We anticipate good outcomes, as each of the members have great affection and pride toward MAMAMOO."
Meanwhile, the girl group MAMAMOO comprises four members, namely Hwasa, Solar, Moonbyul, and Wheein. The critics considered the band's debut as one of the best K-pop debuts of 2014. The quartet is known for their retro, jazz, and R&B concepts and their strong vocal performances.
