Red Velvet's Irene To Debut As An Actress In The Movie ‘Double Patty’
Irene merely is unstoppable!
Red Velvet member Irene, 29, is officially an actress! Fresh from the success of Red Velvet's 'Monster' EP, Irene will debut her first-ever film project.
On July 16 (Thursday), SM Entertainment has unapologetically confirmed to various social media platforms that Irene from an all-girl K-Pop group will debut her first acting role in the movie titled Double Patty. The film will be her first acting gig since her participation in the 2016 web drama 'Women at a Game Company.'
"Irene will be appearing in the film…" a spokesman from SM Entertainment said. The representative also revealed that Irene would be portraying the role of an "aspiring anchorwoman." Irene is one of the major leading characters in the movie.
Per Soompi, the said film is described as a "coming-of-age" movie that revolves around young people's life journey towards maturity and development. Burger Patty will be directed by renowned filmmaker Baek Seung Hwan, a 2019 Korea Culture and Entertainment awardee for his film 'The First Shot.'
The camera will start to roll in August and is set to fill theater halls before the year ends, Hellokpop reported.
According to the reports, Irene showed a different side of her persona in the release of Red Velvet's sub-unit album 'Monster' that led to the film productions to cast her as one of the leading characters. Having all that said, the ReVeluvs are highly awaiting the singer's upcoming movie, as it brings a different taste to the moviegoers, giving prominence to Irene's innovative and versatile talent since she first appeared in a web drama in 2016.
Irene, born with the full name Bae Joo-Hyun, is a member of an all-girl ensemble called 'Red Velvet' and recently debuted as a sub-unit with co-member Seulgi. The idol was ranked no. 6 in the Most Loved Idol Celebrity, previously ranked no. 4 in 2017 and 2018.
Burger Patty is definitely something to watch out for. Are you excited about Irene's upcoming movie? Tell us in the comments below!
