‘The Blue Dragon Film Awards’ Reveals New Schedule After Postponement Last Year
After being postponed last year due to the spike of the COVID-19 cases in South Korea, the 41st Blue Dragon Film Awards has now finalized its schedule. The awarding body has now decided to conduct the event on February 9.
As previously announced by a source last year regarding the postponement, there is growing social concern over the uncontrolled rise in COVID-19 cases in the country.
With this, the awards team decided to guard as much as possible against the further spread of the virus. Also, it postponed the ceremony for the safety of the filmmakers.
The Event's New Schedule
To be held at Incheon Paradise City, the 41st Blue Dragon Film Awards will be conducted on February 9 at 9 p.m. KST. Supposed the event last year was scheduled on December 11 but judging the widespread COVID-19 could be unsafe, it decided to halt for a while.
The Blue Dragon Film Awards is a ceremony that shares its fate with the Korean film industry. The event will be returning on the first anniversary of Parasite's conquer in Oscar. The Best Picture Award, the Best Supporting Actor Awards, Rookie Award, and Best Director Award will have no candidate changes.
Rising Above The Pandemic
Meanwhile, more diverse films than ever have been presented to the audience despite the film industry's unprecedented pain in 2020. This somehow hinted at a brighter future.
Furthermore, considering the filmmakers fighting to do great works even in times like these, the 41st Blue Dragon Film Awards plans to do its best to return the rewards and pride to them.
Moreover, by undertaking social distancing and adhering to government protocols, it prepares for the award ceremony to be safe. And instead of face-to-face interaction, the stage for the film festival will be available to participate online.
With its goals to leap forward in the Korean film industry in 2021, the 41st Blue Dragon Film Awards will be live on SBS and Naver TV.
