TC Candler Lambasted After Disrespectful Remark Towards BLACKPINK's Jisoo
BLACKPINK's Jisoo has been officially included in TC Candler's one of the world's most beautiful celebrities. However, BLINKs' delight turned to anger as to how the company introduced Jisoo as one of their results.
On December 29, Tuesday, BLACKPINK's Jisoo has landed a spot on TC Candler's latest poll for 'The 100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2020,' securing her spot at No. 50. This achievement was Jisoo's second time being included in the poll results and is the highest rank she obtained since her first inclusion from TC Candler's result poll.
Fans are celebrating BLACKPINK Jisoo's beauty milestone, but not until TC Candler ruined the mood and got the fans upset over the company's way of announcing Jisoo's rank. Celebrities who are part of the result from TC Candler's poll has a custom caption attached to their names and photo banners as they announce the celebrities' ranks.
Netizens and fans lashed out as TC Candler released BLACKPINK Jisoo's banner that reads, 'Singer, Dancer, Model, (25) - HER ENGLISH IS A PITY.' This made BLINKs upset, aside from not including 'actress' on her banner, TC Candler seemed to mock Jisoo's English proficiency level.
Moreover, it was announced in BLACKPINK's Netflix documentary that Jisoo is a pure-blooded Korean, which means Jisoo grew up speaking only her native language. However, Jisoo also was able to expand her versatility in language speaking when she entered YG Entertainment.
That said, fans claimed that TC Candler got the phrase from BLACKPINK's Sumer Diary 2019 when the members went to Hawaii. It was also the same year when Rose taught Jisoo the phrase, 'That's a pity,' Jisoo hilariously used it to Lisa when she mispronounced 'Dumpling' and said 'Your English is a pity.'
Despite the phrase being Jisoo's most favorite line, fans are upset about how TC Candler used it to announce her rank to the public. One Twitter user shared her thoughts on the issue and posted, "Jisoo's favorite English sentence is "It's a pity," not "Her English is a pity.
"The meaning is not the same. Don't you get it, @tccandler? You are a pity. We can't accept that it's just a joke. Respect JISOO #APOLOGIZETOJISOOTccandler"
Many fans believe it's a straight disrespectful phrase to introduce an artist or a celebrity and wonder why Jisoo's caption was like that when she has other greater things to mention.
Although some conclude that Jisoo would still love the 'joke,' the majority are trending the hashtag #ApologizeToJisooTCCandler on Twitter for the company to make a statement following the controversy.
