Koo Jun Hoe and Kim Jin Hwan of iKON Suffers Minor Injuries From Accident
iKON's Kim Jin Hwan and Koo Jun Hoe encounter a car accident while riding with a drunk driver!
According to news outlets, on July 13, a van skidded in the rain and crashed into a retaining wall. The accident happened in a freeway in Namhae, located in the South of Gyeongsang Province. All people inside the car were treated at the nearby hospital and was reported with minor injuries.
It was later announced that the passengers of the car were the members of iKON - Koo Jun Hoe and Kim Jin Hwan, and a noncelebrity driver who had been drunk driving when the incident happened, wrote Allkpop.
The local police revealed that it was an accident caused by drunk driving on a wet road and that they are in the middle of investigating the exact happenings and other details.
The delayed update from YG Entertainment caused many fans to worry about the singers' situation. The fans started a trend on Twitter using the hashtag, "YGprotectIkon."
Allkpop reported that the fans are requesting YG Entertainment to release further details on the idols' exact status aside from "sustaining minor injuries."
Meanwhile, early on July 14, YG Entertainment released a statement regarding the car accident in which iKON's Jinhwan and Junhoe are passengers. As translated by Soompi, the announcement reads, "We have confirmed that two members of iKON are passengers of the vehicle who encountered an accident on July 13 on Route 3 heading from Sacheon to Namhae."
The agency confirmed that the injuries sustained by the drunk driver "A" and the members of iKON had minor injuries based on the doctor's report.
YG Entertainment said in their statement that they would conduct a thorough internal investigation and would take appropriately severe measures. The label also informs that the driver "A" is now cooperating with police investigations.
