IU Did Not Let The Christmas Season Pass Without Helping Those In Need: Donates To Low-Income Students
The Hotel del Luna star IU has once again poured out her generous heart through donations during the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas!
IU has been known for her generous acts in South Korea. She's one of those marketable stars who always thought about others' welfare by giving donations in spoonful amounts.
IU's Helping Hands
One recent remarkable deed of the actress was done during her 12th debut anniversary. IU's agency, EDAM Entertainment, took to their Instagram on September 18 to share that she donated to two organizations under IUAENA, a combination of IU and UAENA (her official fan club name).
Approximately $43,000 or 50 million won was donated to Snail of Love, and another 50 million won to the Korean Unwed Mothers' Families Association.
IU also made another donation in August. The star donated about 4,600 cooling vests and 100 million won ($84,000) for nurses at the frontline of COVID-19. As divulged by the association, IU contributed to the charity organization Community Chest of Korea.
The said vests were sent to nurses at screening centers and medical institutions nationwide, who have been combating COVID-19 amid the sweltering summer heat.
Providing Smiles To Those In Need In The Holidays
As revealed by the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation on December 24, IU had donated 100 million won (approximately $91,000) to help young students in need.
The foundation's spokesperson confirmed by saying, "IU donated 100 won this morning." He went on to say that her donation will go towards the living expenses of low-income students who are being raised by their grandparents and their schooling expenses as they prepare to go to college.
Meanwhile, throughout her career, IU has often made generous donations and supported many charitable causes. Aside from the mentioned above, IU has donated 100 million won to help victims of heavy rainfall and flooding and 50 million won (approximately $45,000) to help provide hearing aids to those in need, to name a few.
