MONSTA X's Shownu Goes Through Emergency Eye Surgery
On July 3, MONSTA X's Shownu went through an emergency operation on his left eye, sue to retinal detachment, Koreaboo reported.
Starship Entertainment delivered the shocking news to the Monbebe's around the globe through a shared post from MONSTA X's Twitter account.
According to Starship Entertainment, "Shownu underwent an ophthalmic pre-examination for his LASIK operation back on July 2, and a problem with his retina during the examination was discovered.
Starship Entertainment continued, "As a result of the examination, it was determined that he has a retinal detachment in his left eye, we made immediate decision to proceed with the surgery to fix it this afternoon, as it was an avoidable situation."
The agency also apologized for causing concerns to the fans of Shownu and swore that they would do the best for the boy group, including taking care of each member's health.
MONSTA X's recently released their new mini-album titled "Fantasia X." Aside from the album's title track "Fantasia X," the album also features the songs "Flow," "Chaotic," "Beautiful Night," "Zone," "It Ain't Over," and "Stand Up."
"Fantasia X" was the group's eighth mini-album since their album "Follow: Find You" in October and their first full-English album released in February, "All About Luv."
Prior to MONSTA X's comeback in May, Shownu was also reported to have been injured, causing a delay to the group's album release. "Fantasia X," originally scheduled to be released on May 11, was moved to the 26th due to the "experienced back pain" of Shownu, Metro wrote. The singer was admitted to the hospital and was advised to avoid excessive movement for a while back then.
After the said incident, Starship Entertainment released a statement about the MONSTA X's member's situation. It noted that Shownu got injured during their choreography practice for the upcoming comeback, which is not unusual since MONSTA X is known for its breathtaking and intense dance routines.
After the following incidents, fans have been worried about Shownu and are now posting well wishes for their idol on their social media accounts.
