Big Hit Entertainment Announces Plans To Sue Malicious Commenters Against TXT
Big Hit Entertainment has announced the legal action they have taken against netizens who write malicious posts and comments against TXT, reported by Soompi.
The label posted the following statement on TXT's online fan community Weverse on June 29:
"Hello, this is Big Hit Entertainment.
We have recently taken legal action against defamation, harassment, the spread of false rumors, and malicious comments related to TXT.
TXT is a new group that made their debut just over one year ago and includes members who are minors. Despite this, malicious comments about the members have been steadily increasing. As such, we decided to take legal action to protect the safety of our artists.
We have filed criminal complaints with law enforcement on charges of defamation (Article 70 of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc.) and insult (Article 311 of the Criminal Act) against individuals who continuously created malicious comments and posts on online communities, portal sites, and social media that have gone beyond the boundaries of what is socially acceptable.
The data was collected from last year through the first half of this year through our monitoring and our email hotline, and investigations on the suspects are underway based on the data. Please understand that we cannot provide details about the proceedings or updates on their progress due to the need to keep the suspects' identities confidential. If you discover any instances of malicious comments or other illegal activities, please send in submissions to our legal account.
Big Hit Entertainment maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against malicious comments and abusive behavior related to our artists. We will continue to take legal action regarding such activities. We want to make it clear that no settlements or leniency will be extended to the perpetrators of these activities.
We are always thankful for the fans' love and devotion to TXT.
We will continue to work hard to protect our artists' rights.
Thank you."
The company continues to comfort and inspire people worldwide through their music and artists as per Big Hit Entertainment's mission for "Music & Artist for Healing."
