MONSTA X’s Minhyuk And Shownu Talk About Their New OST For Webtoon ‘She’s My Type’
MONSTA X's Shownu and Minhyuk recently appeared in an interview and shared their thoughts on their new contribution to the hit webtoon "She's My Type!"
The two idols on September 11 released their latest addition to the webtoon's OST, the soothing ballad "Have a Goodnight." Shownu and Minhyuk expressed their excitement regarding the song, which allowed them to showcase a different side of themselves from what they typically do in their intense performances as MONSTA X.
Shownu remarked that he had always thought that he wanted to sing an OST someday, and now, he ended up being able to join in the new project after a suitable opportunity arose. "I believe the results came out better than I'd expected, so I'm satisfied."
Minhyuk also chimed that during their promotions for MONSTA X; they typically showcased more of their dancing than their vocals. He thought that it would be nice if they had an opportunity to put the focus on their voices for a change. And with this opportunity, Minhyuk was delighted that they could exhibit a new side of them to their fans through the OST.
Furthermore, Shownu shares a new kind of fun that they have experienced in recording the song. Instead of delivering their own story, they had to convey the webtoon's main characters' journey. Minhyuk agreed and expressed that doing the OST felt different for him from working on their albums for MONSTA X, which was also fun.
Regarding describing the emotions they wanted to convey in the song, Minhyuk explained that the song 'Have a Goodnight' is a comforting lullaby in which the male protagonist Chanyeol sings for the female protagonist Haedam after suffering through an exhausting day. He continued that Chanyeol's warm and sincere feelings of affection for Haedam are perfectly captured in the lyrics.
Minhyuk also added that he hopes that the webtoon's readers will say that their OST is a perfect match for the webtoon.
"Have a Goodnight" marks not only Shownu and Minhyuk's first OST, but also their first duet together, and they spoke confidently about their chemistry as a duo.
Meanwhile, Minhyuk remarked that if he had to sum up 'Have a Goodnight' in one phrase, it'd be a 'pleasant twist.' He shared that when it was first announced that the two of them would be singing an OST, he thought everyone was half-excited and half-worried.
After releasing the song, the response they received was positive. "I think we were able to deliver a 'pleasant twist' to Monbebe (MONSTA X's fandom) through this OST, which makes me happy."
Minhyuk added that in the future, he'd like to team up with Shownu again and show another unexpected side of themselves—a different twist.
