Kim Myung Soo, Kwon Nara, Lee Yi Kyung, And Lee Tae Hwan Confirm As Cast For ‘Secret Royal Inspector’
Kim Mung Soo, Kwon Nara, Lee Yi Kyung, and Lee Tae Hwan confirmed their casting in “Secret Royal Inspector,” a new historical drama.
Previously in June, Kim Myung Soo was reported to be in talks for the leading role of the drama “Secret Royal Inspector.” Along with the other actors in discussion to star in the series were Kwon Nara, Lee Yi Kyung, and Lee Tae Hwan.
Just on September 10, Management Leesang, Kim Myung Soo’s agency, confirmed Kim Myung Soo’s acceptance of the casting offer. Kim Myung Soo shared through his agency that he was happy and, at the same time, nervous about taking the role in the historical drama ‘Secret Royal Inspector.” He also added that secret royal inspectors are like Kingsmen of the Joseon Dynasty, a government official specially appointed by the king, which made him excited for taking a cool role.
Kim Myung Soo will play Sung Yi Kyum, a busuchan (a type of public official) in the Hongmungwan, Office of Special Advisors, the Joseon Dynasty’s administrative and research agency. He has no future ambitions and lives only for the moment. He won in the civil service examination as a first-place but caught gambling.
However, Kwon Nara will play the role of Hong Da In, a charming and spirited gisaeng who is a damo (a woman working for a Joseon government office) working undercover. She is a female inspector that solves cases teaming up with Sung Yi Kyum.
Lee Yi Kyung will portray the role of Park Choon Sam, Sung Yi Kyum’s servant. He is an affectionate, warmhearted, and lovable character who is fond of talking and is tearful, but he has a lot of cunning.
Lastly was Lee Tae Hwan, who will play the role of Sung Yi Bum, Sung Yi Kyum’s younger stepbrother. His father was a nobleman, a yangban (an aristocrat), but his mother was a servant. Due to his mother’s low social status, he was not accepted by his father as his real son and barred from several opportunities. And this awkward situation of his birth puts him in conflict with his/ brother Sung Yi Kyum.
