Most Anticipated Movie Of The Year 'Peninsula' To Hit Theaters Soon
The sequel to the zombie film Train to Busan might be the most anticipated movie this year!
It has been 4 years since the zombie thriller captivated the audiences worldwide with its unique nail-biting story and world-class acting from the casts, especially the main lead Gong Yoo.
News about the sequel spread like a wildfire after it was confirmed last year. However, the director cleared that it is not a direct sequel. Here is the full statement:
“It takes place four years after Train To Busan, in the same universe, but it doesn’t continue the story and has different characters,” said the filmmaker.
He added, “Government authority has been decimated after the zombie outbreak in Korea, and there is nothing left except the geographical traits of the location – which is why the film is called Peninsula.”
“The scale of Peninsula can’t compare to Train To Busan, it makes it look like an independent film. Train To Busan was a high-concept film shot in narrow spaces whereas Peninsula has a much wider scope of movement.”
The full title of the unofficial sequel is ‘Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula’.
Actor Gang Dong Won was chosen to play the main lead this time. He will be playing as a former soldier who has managed to escape the zombie-infested South Korea.
The soldier is sent on a mission back into Korea to retrieve something valuable, but his return trip gets complicated after he meets non-infected survivors who need saving.
The film also stars Lee Jung Hyun, Lee Re, Kwon Hae Hyo, Kim Min Jae, Koo Kyo Hwan, and Lee Ye Won.
The production began filming on June 24, 2019 and finished October 31, 2019. The first movie trailer was already released on April 2 this year, while the second trailer was just released on June 16.
‘Peninsula’ is set to hit the theaters this July 2020!
