‘Record Of Youth’ Cast Park Bo Gum, Park So Dam, & Byun Woo Seok Share What ‘Youth’ Means + Reveal Preparations In Portraying Their Roles
Before the premiere of "Record of Youth" on September 7, 2020, the upcoming K-Drama cast was asked to share some of their thoughts about what being young means to them.
In the interview, 'Record of Youth' stars Park Bo Gum, Park So Dam, and Byun Woo Seok was asked about what is the meaning of "youth" to them personally and what are the necessary steps that they did to play their respective roles in the upcoming K-Drama series.
Park Bo Gum stated that being young isn't about the age, but the mindset of starting anew, while Park So Dam noted that being a "Youth" is continuously taking on challenges and growing as a person. And Byun Woo Seok quoted a poem from Samuel Ullman that said, "Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind… as long as your aerials are up, to catch waves of optimism, there is hope you may die at eighty, I believe youth is 'limitless.'"
The "Record of Youth" stars were asked about what steps they prepared to play their roles. Park Bo Gum stated that his character is a very rational, honest, and self-disciplined person, so he tried to resemble him as much as possible while filming. The actor added studying and learning to be a runway model by reading pictorials, watching runway shows, and practicing his walk for a runway. Park Bo Gum hopes that his peers, who are working towards their dreams, can relate to his character.
Park So Dam shares her character's personality for her role in "Record of Youth," stating that Ahn Jung Ha is a cool character who has a clear goal and works hard to achieve it. While preparing for her role, she mentioned that salon staff has to wear wireless earphones for communication and wondered how hard it must have been to be a salon staff member, as her character Ahn Jung Ha is a salon staff.
Meanwhile, Byun Woo Seok shared what kind of a person is his character, stating that his character can't stand being handed an advantage because of his higher family status on the show. He added that his character seems to have no worries and should be happy, but has many inner battles to fight and work hard with it.
The actor revealed that he was nervous when it came to filming the runway scenes, even though he has worked in the fashion industry before, but has prepared to set foot off the runway like a pro.
"Record of Youth" premieres on September 7, 2020, on Netflix and tvN at 9 pm KST.
