With the success of BLACKPINK’s latest single “Ice Cream,” the group has come up with numerous MV versions, including a ZEPETO dance performance with Selena Gomez.
On September 2, BLACKPINK released an “Ice Cream” MV dance performance featuring ZEPETO versions of themselves with Selena Gomez.
In the video, BLACKPINK is seen in their ZEPETO versions of themselves and had a dance performance of ‘Ice Cream” with Selena Gomez. The MV also featured matched the background and the group’s clothes in their official MV of the song.
ZEPETO is an application from Naver that allows users to create 3D avatars and interact with other people online. Although BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez cannot be in physical contact with each other due to COVID-19, creating virtual characters provides an opportunity for fans to see them all in one stage.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK’s MV for “Ice Cream,” featuring Selena Gomez, reaches over 100 million views at 5:56 A. M. KST on August 30. The music video ranked 100 million views in just 40 hours and 56 minutes after its official release and put it on 2nd place in the group’s record after “How You Like That, which reached 100 million in just 32 hours.
Its also BLACKPINK’s ninth overall music video to surpass 100 million views, following “BOOMBAYAH,” “Playing With Fire,” “Whistle,” “As If You Were Last,” “Stay,” “DDU-DU-DDU-DU,” “Kill This Love,” and “How You Like That.”
Since BLACKPINK released their latest single “Ice Cream” with Selena Gomez, it has ranked in the number 1 spot on iTunes Top Songs in 38 countries and regions. The group’s single also did well on the U.S. And U.K. Music Charts, coming in at a second and third place in those countries, respectively.
BLACKPINK also has another milestone on their belt as the group’s single “Kill This Love” surpassed 1 billion views on Youtube. On September 2, at approximately 3:08 pm KST, “Kill This Love” reached a billion views on the platform in just one year, four months, 28 days, and 15 hours, since its release on April 5, 2019, at midnight KST.
BLACKPINK’s “Kill This Love” is the second MV to reach a billion views on Youtube following “DDU-DU-DDU-DU” in November 2019. The only Korean artist to ever achieve this feat are BTS’s “DNA,” PSY’s “Gangnam Style,” and “Gentleman.”
