NCT Dream's Renjun Fooled By Saying Filipino Curse Words + Fans Are Furious!
NCTzens (NCT fan base) are upset with the Philippine viewing audience watching Renjun's V Live, asking him to read aloud Filipino phrases, one of which turns out to be a swear word.
Renjun conducted a live broadcast on Thursday, August 27, while on his way home. Nevertheless, the star took the chance to meet and talk with his supporters, even though it was late and dark outside.
During his broadcast, Renjun read various fans' comments while streaming, performing short melodies, and chatting with a soft, gentle voice to his followers. One of the phrases was "put * * * ina," a Filipino term that generally means "f**k you" when spoken. The correct translation, nevertheless, is "your mom is a wh*r *. Supporters were angry after Renjun said this, that the audience took full advantage of Renjun's lack of grasp of the language.
The other term that he was told to say was "Mahal Kita," meaning "I love you." One user took Renjun's screen recording, repeating the profanity, and posted this on YouTube. Outraged, supporters had requested the person who uploaded the video, out of respect for Renjun, to remove the video.
The recording has now been deleted on the said platform. The clip has far more opposes than likes, with 2.6k dislikes and 85 likes.
A fan commented on the video saying, "I'm not even a fan of the NCT, but it was crazy arrogant. The person should be embarrassed; whoever asked for all of this. The one bit was not even entertaining. Even the uploader should be ashamed to post it. I could only fathom how humiliated Renjun would feel when he learns he's been manipulated into speaking profanity. You all think it's fun and entertainment, but you've actually taken advantage of an icon that wishes to communicate with its foreign fans." (via Kpopstarz)
