GFRIEND Confirms July Comeback
On June 17, GFRIEND just announced that they will be coming back with their new album ‘Song of the Sirens’ and that it will be released on July 13, 2020. The girl group confirmed their return through a notice on their Weverse fan community.
(Weverse is a mobile app and web platform created by Big Hit Entertainment that specializes in hosting multimedia content and artist-to-fan communications for K-Pop bands and musicians.)
The media previously reported that GFRIEND recently wrapped up filming for their title track music video. The staff members are said to be in shock with the girls’ total transformation for this comeback.
Ahead of the announcement, fans were already speculating that GFRIEND was preparing for a comeback after the group members were spotted at the wedding of member Sowon's sister where they performed a congratulatory song, sporting new hair colors.
Seemingly part of promoting their upcoming return, 5 of the members of GFRIEND launched their own personal Instagram accounts on June 1, 2020.
The remaining member, Yuju, followed suit on June 3 after trending on social media for being the only member without an account yet. Each member posted a photo of their selves after creating their account and just after a few hours, each member gained a significant number of followers.
GFriend is a six-member girl group formed by Source Music in 2015. The group consists of Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji. They made their debut with the extended play ‘Season of Glass’ on January 15, 2015, and has been topping the local and international charts with every comeback since then.
The girl group GFRIEND is popularly known for their unchanging powerful and innocent concept since their debut. However, it seems a big change in their concept is to be expected for their upcoming album and fans are looking forward to the transformation both musically and visually.
