TVXQ's Changmin Shares Wedding Postponement + Agency Confirms
TVXQ's Changmin has confirmed that he will be postponing his upcoming wedding ceremony due to health safety concerns and government protocols for COVID-19.
On August 27, SM Entertainment reported that after the rapid increase in COVID-19 occurrences, Changmin – who initially intended to tie the knot with his non-celebrity girlfriend on September 5 – had opted to reschedule his wedding plans until the situation becomes better and safer for everyone.
The company said, "Because of concerns about COVID-19 transmission, Changmin has decided to postpone his marriage ceremony, which had been previously slated for September 5. After talks with the [his and his fiancée's] relatives, he expects to agree on a new date." (via Soompi)
Changmin joins a group of other personalities who reportedly brought adjustments to their planned upcoming wedding plans because of concerns about COVID-19.
Kang Sora, who initially intended to hold her wedding on August 29, scrapped the celebration in favor of a small family gathering. However, Ryu Deok Hwan announced recently that he and his fiancee would postpone their wedding in October to next year.
ABOUT CHANGMIN
Shim Chang-min is a composer, music producer, actor, and representative of the pop pair TVXQ, also known professionally, Max Changmin. When he was 14 years old, Changmin was approached by a successful SM Entertainment representative.
In December 2003, he began his professional career as the youngest member of TVXQ. As someone proficient in Korean and Japanese, Changmin as TVXQ's main singer, has managed to achieve international success in Asia. His mother, seeking to see BoA for a chance, encouraged Changmin to join the selection tryouts anyway.
The agent proposed the audition for SM, but Changmin was not interested in becoming a singer. Three days after the audition, SM scheduled Changmin for a second audition in which he successfully passed.
Changmin agreed to sign with the agency after receiving the Best Singer and Best Artist title at SM's 6th annual Youth Best Contest. He's also appeared in numerous television shows.
