'Running Man' And 'Master In The House' Hinders Production Due To COVID-19 Threat
Many shows and dramas halted productions to prevent COVID-19 from spreading.
SBS announced last August 24 that "Running Man" and "Master in the House" terminated its filming. According to a representative, the filming was canceled for the casts' and crews' health and safety. They were still discussing their future filming dates, but the segments that already recorded will yet air.
Studio Dragon will also be altering its production, and they produce dramas that air on OCN, tvN, and KBS. The production manager of Studio Dragon, Kim Young Gyu, commented that due to the rapid spread of COVID-19, they have decided to cease all the scheduled filming starting August 24 to August 31 to protect their staff casts involved in the production.
Meanwhile, CJ ENM released a statement last August 22 saying that dramas produced by Studio Dragon that are possible to halt filming include "Flower of Evil" and "Missing: The Other Side." Since tvN's "Forest of Secrets 2" and "Record of Youth" have already wrapped up filming, they will be air as scheduled.
CJ ENM also added that "Hometown Flex," tvN's variety show, will be halting its filming until August 31 and promised to announce updates on rescheduled broadcast dates. The company also noted that they would stop airing until further notice the Mnet's live music program "M Countdown."
Moreover, the premiere date of "Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol" will be pushed back as ordered by KBS to protect their cast and crew. While the original premiere date of the upcoming drama, "Zombie Detective," on August 31, has also been postponed due to the filming's unprecedented halt.
Previously, the production staff of "To All the Guys Who Loved Me" also decided an immediate pause in filming when the supporting actor Seo Sung jong tested positive for COVID-19. Meanwhile, at present, they have already resumed their filming as a representative from the drama stated last August 24 that they are good to go.
They were aiming to air the final episode on September 1, and as of now, they are just finishing up the last bit in the shots. The production team planned to thoroughly follow the government's COVID-19 prevention protocols and wrap up filming using a set inside the broadcasting station.
