Goo Hara's Ex-Boyfriend Lodges Formal Complaint Against Malicious Commenters
Goo Hara's former boyfriend is pursuing legal action against those who are discrediting him.
Choi Jong Bum, who has been prosecuted for attacking and abusing Goo Hara, the late K-pop star, charged internet users who published insulting remarks on him. On June 21, according to his legal team, Choi has lodged a lawsuit at the police station against those who wrote disparaging comments.
The filed lawsuit is based on the findings on the grounds of libel or Information and Communication Network Act, undermining the constitution. Choi's counsel clarified the lawsuit's justification, saying he believes Choi was under intense stress because of constant negative news about his client.
Moreover, Choi's hair salon was impacted when several people have come to protest, compelling him to close his business. Investigators have reportedly called in the suspects last week to probe deeper.
Meanwhile, Choi Jong Bum was tried and convicted in September 2018 on allegations of violently attacking Goo Hara on charges of damaging the cervical and lumbar spine of his former lover and threatening to disseminate sex videos to the mainstream press. During the first trial in August, the judge convicted him to one and a half years in jail with a three-year suspension.

Both the prosecutor and Choi eventually appealed. The second trial court reversed the first jury's decision last month and convicted Choi to one year in jail. Since then, both the defense and Choi have appealed to the Supreme Court's ruling, sending Choi to detention.
Goo Hara's brother, Goo Ho In, replied in July with the current developments from Choi Jung Bom and said it was bringing their family a coping mechanism. Adding that, in the end, it will never alleviate the pain. They are disappointed that Choi was never found guilty for illicit recording.
Choi Jong Bum became an enormous subject in October 2018 after Police Gangnam Station demanded an extradition request for injury and blackmail allegations against his former girlfriend and K-pop singer, Goo Hara.
