Shin Hye Sun Stars In The New Crime Film ‘Innocence’
Shin Hye Sun makes a return to the big screen as she stars in a new crime-themed film titled ‘Innocence.’
The film marks Shin Hye Sun's first major role in a film. She revealed that one of the reasons why she chose this film is because her father advised her to.
The new film ‘Innocence’ is ready to hit the theaters on June 10. The stars of the film attended the premier of the movie on June 4 at the CGV cinema in Yongsan, Central Seoul.
The film was originally set to be released on March 5, 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, promotional events were cancelled and the release was pushed until June.
The movie is based on a real-life story. The story focuses on Jung-in (Shin Hye Sun), a lawyer who decided to defend her mother (Bae Jong Ok) who was wrongly accused after the rice wine was poisoned at her husband’s funeral, leading to the death of one of the guests. However, she is suffering from memory loss and cannot defend herself.
During the film’s premiere Thursday at the CGV cinema in Yongsan, central Seoul, the director explained he had Shin in mind from the start to lead the cast.
“I saw Shin’s acting in Stranger and the flow of her emotions and her diction was very impressive. After Shin accepted the script, Bae naturally came to mind as Shin’s mother, but I was cautious since she has always taken up intelligent characters,” the director said. “Fortunately, Bae, who says she has had a thirst for acting, took the role with no hesitation.” The Jakarta Post reported.
Shin Hye Sun made her debut in the television series School 2013 and played her first leading role in a drama in My Golden Life (2017–2018), where she gained recognition as a skilled actress in the local scene. She gained international recognition through her lead role in Angel's Last Mission: Love (2019).
