Super Junior's Sub Unit 'K.R.Y' Makes Long Awaited Comeback
Super Junior fans rejoice! The sub-unit ‘K-R-Y’ has finally returned!
The official sub-unit of Super Junior has just released their first mini-album ‘When We Were Us’ along with a music video for the title track of the same name.
The song conveys the feeling of longing for a loved one, a perfect concept for a traditional ballad. Through the song, the trio also reminisces the moments shared with the group and with their fans called ELFs.
Super Junior-K.R.Y. is the first sub-unit of the boy group Super Junior. Super Junior-K.R.Y.was formed in 2006 and consists of the three main vocalists of Super Junior: Yesung, Ryeowook and Kyuhyun.
Back in 2006, the sub-unit released two original soundtrack titled ‘The Night Chicago Died’ and ‘The One I Love’ for the tvN drama Hyena. Since then, they have released several original soundtracks for Korean television dramas.
SM Entertainment decided to debut the sub-unit in Japan in 2013 where they released their first official single titled ‘Promise You’ on January. The single debuted at number two on Oricon's daily singles chart. In total, the single album sold 40,645 copies on its first day of sales.
When member Yesung enlisted for his mandatory military service on May 2013, their activities as a sub-unit went on a hiatus. The trio resumed their activities only after Yesung finished his military service in 2015.
They continued their activities as a trio and held a concert tour in Japan, starting in Yokohama and had 11 total performances in arenas in Kobe, Fukuoka and Nagoya. The trio then released their second Japanese single titled ‘Join Hands’ on August 2015.
The sub-unit once again went on hiatus when members Ryeowook and Kyuhyun enlisted for their mandatory military service. Ryewook enlisted on 2016 and completed it on 2018, while Kyuhyun enlisted on 2017 and completed the service on 2019.
In May 2020, it was finally confirmed that the sub-unit was preparing for a comeback, which will be their first Korean release since their unit's debut in 2006. The album is part of a chain of activities to celebrate 15 years since formation for Super Junior, from 2005 till 2020.
