Son Suk-ku to Star in New Romance Drama by Hong Sisters: 'Can This Love Be Translated?'
Actor Son Suk-ku is set to join forces with the renowned screenwriting duo, the Hong Sisters (Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran).
According to a News1 report on April 13 (KST), Son Suk-ku is likely to play the male lead in the new drama "Can This Love Be Translated?" (written by Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran, directed by Yoo Young-eun).
"Can This Love Be Translated?" is a romantic comedy about a man who works as a translator, meeting a woman who speaks the language of love in a completely opposite way. The two misunderstand and misinterpret each other, eventually learning to understand one another.
The Hong Sisters, known for their hit dramas such as "The Greatest Love," "Master's Sun," "Hwayugi," "Hotel Del Luna," and "Reincarnation," are particularly skilled in the romance genre, garnering much attention for their latest project. Director Yoo Young-eun has previously worked on KBS dramas like "Queen of Mystery," "Contract Friendship," and "Crimson Heart."
Son Suk-ku has been offered the role of Ju Ho-jin, a simultaneous interpreter fluent in English, Spanish, and Japanese. As a rare multilingual interpreter, he becomes the personal translator for a top actress, gradually growing closer to her and enjoying their conversations.
This project marks Son Suk-ku's first foray into a full-fledged romance, generating even more interest. Since gaining popularity through his appearance in the Netflix original series "Sense8," Son has been building public trust through continuous work in dramas such as "Mother," "Suits," "Designated Survivor: 60 Days," "Melo Is My Nature," and "D.P.," as well as the film "Romance in a Frenzy."
Last year, Son captivated audiences with his expressive eyes in the drama "My Liberation Diary" and simultaneously appeared in the film "Crime City 2." He continues to broaden his acting spectrum with numerous projects. As he prepares to showcase his next works, the drama "Murderer o Jigsaw," the movie "Commentary Squad," and the play "Army on the Tree," viewers can look forward to a different charm in "Can This Love Be Translated?"
