SHINee Remembers Late Jonghyun on His 33rd Birthday: 'We Miss You'
The group SHINee celebrated the 33rd birthday of their late member Jonghyun, expressing their longing for him.
Each year when April comes around, the members of SHINee remember Jonghyun's birthday by sharing photos taken together or images of the late singer on social media. This year was no exception.
Key was the first to post a photo, captioning it, "happy birthday to my best friend. love you."
The shared photo shows Jonghyun lying on a bed with a stack of chocolate boxes on his chest. Key expressed his affection by saying, "Happy birthday to my best friend, I love you."
Minho shared an old photo with the caption, "Happy birthday! I miss you a lot this year too. date.2017.04.08."
The photo captures Jonghyun on his 27th birthday in 2017 while in Japan. At that time, Jonghyun held a surprise birthday party with SHINee members and staff at a hotel during their Japan tour. Despite the simple party with only a cake, Jonghyun enjoyed himself and later posted on his personal social media, "Thank you all for the nighttime surprise attack from members and staff♡♡♡♡."
The youngest member, Taemin, left a two-shot photo with Jonghyun, writing, "Happy birthday!! I miss you." The two are smiling and Jonghyun is making a cute V-pose, drawing attention.
As SHINee members celebrated Jonghyun's birthday and expressed their longing, their posts quickly spread across various online communities and social media platforms. Fans also remembered Jonghyun and paid tribute to him.
Jonghyun, who debuted with SHINee in May 2008, swept rookie awards that year after his first mini-album 'Replay' became a huge hit. Subsequent hits like 'Ring Ding Dong,' 'Juliet,' 'Lucifer,' 'Sherlock,' and 'View' solidified his position as a leading K-pop idol. In addition to group activities, he released solo albums and worked as a radio DJ.
However, at the young age of 27, Jonghyun passed away on December 18, 2017, leaving many with a heavy heart.
