Actor Nam Da Reum has announced that he plans to enlist in South Korea's compulsory military service.

The South-Korean actor took to his fan cafe to personally confirm the news of his mandatory military enlistment with a heartfelt letter posted on February 1 KST.

His personal message for his fans began by asking them if they were enjoying their Lunar New Year holiday? He hoped that all his fans, known as Unique, have a happy new year and spend a healthy year in 2022.

The actor added that he wanted to directly announce something to his fandom. Next week, on February 8, 2022, he is scheduled to enlist in the military.

Nam Da Reum wrote he had apologetic feelings toward fans because he could not tell everyone in advance, as he was quietly preparing after the date was confirmed. However, now he was relaying the news with the post because he wanted Unique fandom to hear the news from him first.

The actor added that ever since he was young, it was his goal to enlist early in the military. Furthermore, he could not join the army when he was 20 years old, but now he thinks is a good thing that he will be able to at least join at age 21.

Nam Da Reum also shared that once he returns from his mandatory military service, he will show fans seven better sides of himself as both an adult and actor. He also asked fans to please be careful of their health. He signed off the note by writing that he will return as a more mature person.

As Nam Da Reum is at present only 21 years old in terms of Korean age, which is 19 years old as per international standards, it is not yet necessary for him to enlist and serve in the military. However, as the actor explained in his heartfelt note, it has always been one of his personal aims to enlist early for his mandatory service in the military.

Nam Da Reum started his acting career as a child actor. He has been seen in the roles of the young versions of the lead characters in various popular k-dramas. The actor is most known for playing the main role in the 2019 drama "Beautiful World".

The actor also gained popularity for playing the child and teen versions of the lead actors in "Doom at Your Service", "Start-Up", "Radio Romance", "Come and Hug Me", and "While You Were Sleeping".
