tvN’s 'Summer Vacation' Changes House Features + Thanks Viewers For Honest Feedbacks
tvN's producers for the new variety show "Summer Vacation" has shared updates on the changes they made on the house, which the show occupies.
"Summer Vacation," featuring Jung Yu Mi and Choi Woo Shik, is produced by Na Young Suk, which premiered on July 17. As a "home vacation" reality show, it exhibits adults who went to an unfamiliar place to enjoy their vacation.
Recently, the pilot episode of tvN's "Summer Vacation" drew flak after viewers noticed similarities in the house they used for the show to the traditional Japanese-style home with the attic, sliding doors, and familiar ceiling styles.
The concerns brought up were related to the colonization of Japan to Korea in the year 1910 to 1945. Modern-day Koreans consider the colonial period as a harsh time of Korean culture and language.
The issue is associated with the history of Koreans where they were forced to work and were made sex slaves during World War II, contributing to the modern-day negative sentiments toward Japan, wrote Soompi.
On July 24, the show's production team released images about the improvement they made to the talk-of-the-town house on their Instagram account. Along with the photos is a statement from the group saying that they are so grateful for the viewers' feedback that they were able to change the house that the show occupies.
The production also shared that even in the recent development they made in the house, they will still be using the old footages which covered the unrenovated house until episode three. The newly developed home, however, will be showcased from chapter four onwards.
Moreover, the team noted that they would do everything to the best of their skills in editing footage in episodes two and three. "Once again, we apologize for the issue, and we will be more careful in the future."
The recently developed house reflected on the photo released by tvN has a new roof color with sliding wooden doors and windows replaced with more modern frame designs.
tvN's "Summer Vacation" airs every Friday at 9:10 PM, KST.
