Afterschool's Lizzy (Park Soo-young, 29) has been arrested for drunk driving.

Her agency Celltrion Entertainment confirmed the news on the 19th and stated, "We were able to confirm that Lizzy caused a drunk driving accident on the 18th and she feels heavy responsibility for her wrongdoing without excuse. She's sincerely regretting and reflecting. She deeply apologizes for causing concern for something that shouldn't have happened."

According to police, Gangnam Police Station is investigating Lizzy on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act. She's accused of hitting a taxi ahead of her near the southern end of Yeong-dong bridge in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu at 10:12 pm on the 18th. The officer dispatched to the scene measured her blood alcohol concentration and it was at the level of license cancellation.

At the time of the accident, Lizzy was in her vehicle alone and there was no other passengers in the taxi except for the driver. Both are said to have not been injured.

Lizzy reportedly admitted to the charges and reflected during investigations. Police are still conducting investigations into the exact details of the accident.

Her past comments about drunk driving are catching attention.

In an interview with Seoul Economic Daily in May 2019 after filming 'Desperate Young-ae', Lizzy showed strong resistance to drunk driving stating, "the most upsetting thing is seeing a murderer that drives after drinking. When I see a drunk driver in a vehicle, I immediately make a call to 112 (police) to prevent an irreversible accident."

She added, "when I saw an acquaintance that was drinking at our table show signs of going to drive while drunk, we called a substitute driver immediately. When we saw someone in another table in the same bar that also planned to drive while drunk, we reported it to police and informed them of their route of travel. Just for a proxy fee of 20,000 won (~$15) you can get home safe and save on tens of thousands of won from drunk driving."
