The 41st Blue Dragon Film Awards Is Postponed, Rescheduled To 2021
Previously, the 41st Dragon Film Awards has shared that they are working to make their event said and fruitful despite the COVID-19 plight. However, due to the unforeseen effect of the third spread of the new coronavirus infection in Korea, the awarding ceremony initially scheduled on December 11 is rescheduled to next year.
The Postponed Event
The postponed 41st Blue Dragon Film Awards is supposed to be presenting a total of 18 awards. The nominees in each category were selected through a survey conducted by experts and general audiences in various film industry fields. This covers the movies released from October 11, 2019, to October 29, 2019.
The movie of Lee Byung Hun titled The Man Standing Next received the most number of nominations. It received 11 nominations under ten different categories. This includes Best Picture, Best Actor, Director, and Best Supporting Actor.
Furthermore, the movie of Hwang Jung Min titled Deliver Us From Evil was nominated in eight categories with nine nominations. Kim Hee Ae's film Moonlit Winter was also nominated in seven categories, while Kim Ji Young, Born 1982 in six categories.
It Was The Spike Of COVID-19 Cases That Moved The Schedule
The event organizer announced the postponement on December 8, saying that due to the rapid re-proliferation of COVID-19, the 41st Blue Dragon Film Awards, scheduled to be held on December 11, will be postponed till early 2021.
They explained that the recent uncontrollable spread of Corona 19 has led to growing social concerns. They have decided to postpone the award ceremony to prevent further damage and ensure filmmakers' safety.
"We ask for your kind understanding, including actors, media outlets, film officials, and audiences, and we sincerely hope that the situation will improve as soon as possible," the organized added.
Meanwhile, as noted by Allkpop, reports have been shared earlier that there are already several Korean celebrities who tested positive for COVID-19. This includes UP10TION members Bitto and Kogyeol, EVERGLOW members Yiren and Sihyun, trot singer Lee Chan Won, solo artist Kim Chung Ha, etc.
