BTS Jimin's 'FACE' Sweeps Global Album Charts, Claiming Top Korean Solo Rank
BTS member Jimin has displayed his impressive presence by securing the highest rank for a Korean solo artist in both domestic and international year-end album charts. Jimin's solo album 'FACE' has been placed at 23rd in the United World Chart's 2023 Global Year-End Album Chart, as announced on January 3. This placement is the highest for any Korean solo artist album on this chart and positions 'FACE' as the only Korean solo album in the top 30. Jimin's album has been accounted for an impressive 1,809,000 sales, underscoring his powerful solo influence.
Previously, 'FACE' had already made significant achievements on the United World Chart, selling 1,106,000 copies in its 14th week (April 8, 2023), marking it as the biggest debut record for a Korean solo artist. It then continued to hold the number one spot for two consecutive weeks, with 279,000 sales in its 15th week (April 15).
Furthermore, on the Circle Chart (formerly Gaon Chart), 'FACE', combined with its Weverse version, recorded a total of 1,497,786 sales in the 2023 CIRCLE YEARLY RETAIL ALBUM chart. This sets a new record for the highest sales for a solo album since Circle Retail's annual album chart commenced in 2019. Jimin's 'FACE' had also climbed to the highest rank ever achieved by a Korean solo artist on the Billboard 200, reaching 2nd place on April 8, and tied with BTS's 'MAP OF THE SOUL:7' by maintaining the top position for 14 consecutive days (March 24 - April 6, 2023) on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart.
Additionally, 'FACE' marked a milestone as the first solo album to break through a million sales on its release day, capturing the title of 'Million Seller'. It continued to dominate the Circle Chart by ranking first in the 12th and 13th-week Retail Album Chart and topping the March Monthly Retail Album Chart.
Ten years after his debut, Jimin's first solo album 'FACE' showcases not only his dazzling performances but also his songwriting, composing, and producing talents. He candidly expresses his inner feelings during the pandemic, conquering key album charts globally and solidifying his position as a solo artist. Jimin is paving the way for his second chapter as a 21st-century pop icon, transcending K-pop.
