Controversial Stage Act: Hwasa Proves Her Innocence Against Accusations
Singer Hwasa, who was criticized for having "a more negative influence than the Barbarian Man," has finally been cleared of all accusations.
According to a report by YTN on the 31st, the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office reviewed the investigation results of the police's decision not to charge Hwasa, who was accused of performing an obscene act during a show, and concluded the case.
Last May, Hwasa performed at the Sungkyunkwan University festival during the filming of cable channel tvN's "Wandering Dance Singer." She faced criticism for an allegedly inappropriate performance while singing her solo track "Don't Leave," where she licked her finger and made a suggestive gesture.
The Student and Parents Human Rights Protection Coalition (KPA) filed a complaint against Hwasa for lewd performance. In a conversation with MyDaily, representative Shin Minhyang explained, "Hwasa performed an obscene act that was completely out of context with the choreography, which is why we viewed it as an offense and filed a complaint."
Last month, on the 11th, Representative Shin appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and argued that Hwasa's actions during the performance were more detrimental than the Barbarian Man's because they were seen by a broader audience.
Following this, Hwasa was investigated by the police for the alleged lewd performance, and on the 26th of last month, the Seoul Seongdong Police Station decided not to charge her due to a lack of evidence. However, KPA submitted an application expressing their disagreement with the police investigation's outcome.
Regarding this issue, Hwasa spoke about it on Sung Si Kyung's YouTube channel, explaining how she faced a surge of negative comments online, especially when she was in the U.S. for MAMAMOO's tour. She shared her emotional distress, especially after a New York concert, where she cried uncontrollably in her hotel and even ran out to the parking lot to weep.
